    Lexar SDXC UHS-1 256GB card announced

    We are still far from the maximum theoretical standard of 2TB SDXC card, but it is nevertheless a new level that crosses Lexar, a subsidiary of flash memory specialist Micron, Crucial alongside. Lexar was also the first to reach 128 GB in early 2011 . But it is Toshiba, who had crossed the boundary of the SDHC standard, by selling the first card of 64GB in early 2010.

    Since then, progress has been made not only on the memory density (more capacity in the same volume), but also on the transfer rate. SD card 256 GB actually starts its career at 400x, 133x cons to 128GB at launch. More specifically, the "Lexar Professional 400x SDXC 256 GB" is certified as Class 10 and UHS-I (Ultra High Speed ​​1). It boasts sequential read throughput of 60 MB/s and promises cash flows and Full HD 1080p 3D support for the latest devices on the market.

    This memory card may well be for professionals, as its name suggests, it is primarily a demonstration. It will actually be marketed from October, priced at 875 euros!

    "With the technology leader for the treatment of 20 nm NAND flash memory 128 GB of Micron, Lexar is the first to market a 256 GB SDXC card" said Wes Brewer, vice president of products and technology for Lexar. The Lexar Professional 400x SDXC UHS-I 256 GB also integrates Image Rescue 4 software to recover lost photos and deleted videos.
