Toshiba Satellite U920t Convertible Windows 8 Ultrabook Announced

Live from Berlin, the computer market, Toshiba has also benefited from the IFA to announce a convertible ultrabook with Windows 8, called "Satellite U920t" out of the ordinary.

Essential for its hybrid computer, undeniably the big trend of this show, Toshiba takes a different approach from most of its competitors, by unveiling the Satellite U920t Ultrabook.

It is, in this case, surmounted by a IPS screen of 12.5 inches, a feature uncommon too, showing a HD (1366 x 768 pixels) resolution. It also has the advantage of being covered by a slab of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.

On a technical level, the "U920t" features an Intel Ivy Bridge platform, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM and an SSD up to 256 GB. It has full connectivity with GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi N-controller that supports WiDi, plus two USB 3.0 ports and an SD card reader. There is also a front webcam of a 1 megapixel front and 3 megapixel on back of the screen, unfortunately unusable in tablet mode.

The "Toshiba Satellite U920t" will be launched almost simultaneously with Windows 8 at a retail price of 1100 euros.

I heard that in addition to the 5-point touch function in tablet mode, that is the sensors, gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and magnetometer. The switch between tablet and notebook mode is also very quick and easy, thanks to the special display mount. For a light weight of (at least) 1.45 kg it will provide the magnesium case, in which a backlit keyboard and a touchpad are recessed.
