New hands-free car kit launched by TomTom for smartphones
Three years after launching its first dedicated accessories to the iPhone, TomTom renewed its line of hands-free kits for smartphones, which is now extended to devices with a micro USB plugin.
TomTom announced recently the launch of its new "Hands Free Car Kit for Smartphone", three years after the launch of a first model originally reserved for the Apple iPhone. This newcomer adopts a double fixing system, enabling to support the cradle on the dashboard or directly on the windshield, via an adhesive disc. Equipped with a ball that can switch the phone in portrait or landscape, it uses Bluetooth to connect with the radio or on-board computer. Capable of charging the user's device, the TomTom kit features a microphone and a speaker of 2W. It also has buttons to accept or reject a call even if the phone is not plugged into the slot.
The Dutch abandoned the very thing that was the specificity of its first generation of accessories, including the integration of a GPS chip to further compensate for any shortcomings in the matter of the phone. This new "Hands Free Car Kit for Smartphone" is available in three versions. The first two are dedicated to the iPhone and therefore have the famous Apple's proprietary connector. Count 100 euros to support, or 150 euros for a pack combining the kit to the TomTom navigation software for iPhone. The third, also charged at 100 euros, is finally destined to other smartphones on the market, since they have a micro USB connector.
