It was recently declared that Research in Motion which develops and manufactures Blackberry phones along with Vodafone and IMS are planning to launch study apps known as Study Buddy for Blackberry phones. IMS is the company which helps in preparation of entrance tests. OmniBridge, a Pune based company is working over this project. RIM wants to have the youth connected and in touch with Blackberry phones, IMS wants to increase its market while Vodafone wants to get more subscribers for itself.
This application is free for downloading but after downloading this application, the data charges aren’t free. Various dedicated plans have been devised by Vodafone which will suit the needs and the budget of students who plan to get this service. The cost of the dedicated plans can range from Rs. 599 and so on. For the start, this app will only cover CAT and CMAT tests. But as we know that every year around 44 lakhs students appear for these exams, developers of this app are planning to cover more examinations like ISEET, NEET, GATE, Bank PO and so on. With mobile phones and smartphones being a part of student’s life and we barely see any student without a phone, developers tend to add more productive feature on their phones.
OmniBridge, the developers of this app want to keep the app like a game so that students don’t get bored but be interested in their studies. The questions will be stored in a server from where it will be streamed to various students on their phones. OnmiBridge has previously developed an app for Pune’s traffic police which would retrieve and send data of drivers in their servers which could be retrieved by other police to search for records of offenders or other details they need.
So can we say that this whole concept is a one step more taken towards the education in India?
