The California manufacturer of media storage Drobo has recently announced the "Drobo 5D" and "Drobo Mini," two new RAID enclosures with which it operates to with Thunderbolt connectivity.
The "Drobo 5D" offers as its name indicates five locations, for Serial ATA 3.5-inch in this case, the "Drobo Mini" four 2.5-inch slots.They launched both a mSATA location, accessible through a hatch in the housing, which greatly speeds up the loading of frequently used files by storing them on an SSD buffer.
Solid state drives can be installed in any compartment whether it is Drobo 5D or Drobo Mini, but beyond that there is a special compartment for small-sized solid-state drive, accelerating hard disks. The presence of two Thunderbolt ports allows the inclusion of the chain, and the presence USB 3.0 port, which is backward compatible with previous generations of usb, significantly expands the range of compatible systems. Thunderbolt Cables and USB 3.0 are included.
The array of Drobo 5D contains five storage size 3.5-inch SSD caching total volume up to 16 TB and dimensions of the device are 150.3 x 185.4 x 262.3 mm. Drobo Mini model holds up to four drives with sizes 2.5 inches and dimensions of the device are 187.2 x 44.6 x 180.0 mm.
The "Drobo 5D" and "Drobo Mini" will be commercialized worldwide and they will be sold at U.S. $800 and $600 respectively.
