XBMC is a popular addition for users of Apple TV. To install the software, the Apple TV has to be jailbroken. If you've done that you can play many more file formats and can run several apps. Besides the previously mentioned additions is support for Blu-Ray images and greatly expanded. This is a difference from the version in the PPA XBMC Stable, for licensing reasons we will not find support for DVD Video and protected rar archives (which we will install later: libdvdcss2 package and zip), instead of ffmpeg will be based on libav also will not have support for AFP (Apple File Protocol) due to packaging problems.
