After making us to wait for over a year, the new media player from XBMC is finally available XBMC 11.0. This is also known as “Eden”. XBMC 11.0, “Eden” is the first union interface (default skin), that is offering a horizontal layout which is more convenient for viewing on a TV with showcases extensions. However XBMC with its many alternative skins already allowed to have very nice user interface, while providing ergonomic quality. The addition of a new browser helps for combining fashion and library files for the videos and that is pretty convenient. Besides Eden offers, there are also some of the improvements on the side of the alternative skins and that is providing support for DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution separately. The mouse support and tactile interfaces has also been improved, while a new JPEG decoder announced as two times more powerful and that is now integrated.
But the part that interests us most is the decoding capabilities and support of material on this version of XBMC 11.0. On the decoding side, AMD GPUs are now supported under Linux (addition VAAPI) as they are OMAP4 (OMAP 4430/4440) and even more. This allows it to be compatible with the Apple TV 2, iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch 4G 4 with support for H.264. Other improvements were also made on chipsets that were already supported by XBMC Dharma, Windows and MAC OS. Regarding support, XBMC Eden now provides reading Blu-ray ISO and BDMV support structures and SPLM.
