Microsoft paid $250 million to Nokia in Q4 to use Windows Phone

When Microsoft and Nokia merged nothing much was revealed about the value of their partnership. Now according to the Espoo's Q4 2011 earnings report it has been said that Nokia received about $250 million from Redmond in the Q4 of 2011. The money was a part of the "broad strategic agreement” between the 2 companies.

The broad strategic agreement includes platform support payments from Microsoft to Nokia while Nokia pays for the software royalty to Microsoft. The deal also further reveals that Nokia has comparatively paid less to the Microsoft for using their device when compared to the other manufacturers like Samsung and HTC. Nokia pays Microsoft around $27 per Windows Phone it produces.

An official from the Nokia also revealed that “both the platform support payments and the minimum software royalty commitments are expected to measure in the billions of US Dollars.”

That is enormous amount of money given, well that's expected to be crossing billion of dollars. I am amazed to find out how much money would Microsoft have spent out. Don't know if it is going to be worthy or not.
