RIM: BlackBerry Colt QNX Smartphone revealed in pictures

The first smartphone from Research In Motion running on the QNX system is revealed and it seems that the roadmap is well respected.

While the Canadian manufacturer RIM has recently unveiled three new BlackBerry smartphones, the first information is already available on future models to be launched next year. According to the blog BGR, RIM BlackBerry Colt is hoping to get the new operating system QNX in 2012, which is already embedded in the PlayBook, that changes the game and improve the image of the company. In a maintenance collected in December 2010, Christopher Smith, director of development for the BlackBerry platform, explained that QNX could include better management of multi-core. However, according to information obtained by BGR, the first smartphone would be single core. Since it is for a rumor now, that the information remains to be taken lightly. According to the photo, the BlackBerry Colt resume ergonomics similar like the Blackberry Bold and Curve with a full physical keyboard and therefore a opinion might be displaying for any other major upgrade over existing models. RIM is also working on its BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) to make it compatible with the new system. Today's engineers are already in the process of conducting batteries test and the output would be expected in the first quarter of 2012. QNX technology is compatible with the HTML5 but with Flash, Adobe AIR, POSIX, OpenGL and Java. Remember also that the environment will be able to host the applications originally designed for Android.

The first BlackBerry QNX would not support the messaging service of BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). Companies would be invited to go through Microsoft ActiveSync to be able to use an Exchange mail server. RIM is currently developing a version of the QNX BES, but the operation is apparently more complex.
