"VLC media player" is now entitled to a new update maintenance. Published two months after the previous one, "VLC 1.1.10" is a minor update justified by correcting security flaws.
If VLC 1.1.9 filled a gap in the MP4 demuxer, it corrects it in a container XSPF, which paved the way for a buffer overflow and thus a crash. A security detail has not been filled within libmodplug.
This update also refines the aesthetic adjustments which Mac OS version has been entitled previously, that provides major updates to some locations, improves the management of some sub-titles, decoders or demultiplexers, particularly that of pulseaudio format that has been completely rewritten. Reconstruction of the FreeType font cache was finally withdrawn.
Below are the details of following fixes and changes done in VLC 1.1.10 Media Player:
- Security update regarding an integer overflow in xspf demuxer.
- Rewrite of the pulseaudio audio output module.
- Update of libmodplug for security reasons in Windows and Mac versions.
