RIM's plan of creating a forum threatens Indian government against national security

While Research In Motion calls for the creation of a forum for exchanges between manufacturers to find a compromise, the Indian government maintains its threat of blocking services if they do not get access to encrypted communications services of BlackBerry Professionals.

Despite repeated meetings, the risk of blocking Blackberry services professionals who take advantage of strong encryption by the Indian government is still relevant, despite rumors of corridor is seeking reassurance during the week.

Research In Motion, maker of BlackBerry smartphones and accountable services that accompany them, on Thursday proposed creating a forum for discussion between industry in ways that would respond favorably to the request of governments while maintaining system security for companies.

But fear is a "misuse" is due to the opening of the encryption system and access to sensitive or confidential messages, leading straight to the risk of industrial espionage, with a potential impact on economic activity in the country, when it is experiencing strong growth.

Unchanged position of the Government of India

But the Indian government remains firm on its demand and highlights the risk of its side to its national security. Only one method giving access to encrypted messages Blackberries might to lift the blocking of the ultimatum on August 31.

Any proposed method should also be tested to ensure it meets the expectations of government. Creating a forum for not loosening the position of India on this point, said a government official told Reuters.

This deadlock is not the business of Research In Motion, whose stock price has hit its lowest in 17 months, indicating investor concern about the possibility of finding a short term.

Re: RIM's plan of creating a forum threatens Indian government against national security

Those looks a quiet nuisance between rim and the india government and I am sure that they might come at some conclusion at the end. RIM provides really an powerful encryption service to the Blackberry users worlds wide and a major part for the same also lies in India. So for protecting the interest of the users there might some kind of solution which would developed in coming time.
