WAIK error 0x800F0823 during cataloging WIM image

Guys something is going wrong with Windows System Image Manager in my case, i am not able to make out what. When i tried using WSIM then i get a error message saying "WIMGAPI.DLL could not be found". I manually carried out a search for that file and copied it in to System32 folder but now i am getting WAIK error 0x800F0823 during cataloging WIM image. I am not able to get rid of this, any help for fixing this issue will be appreciated.

I am getting same error and even i am not able to figure out what's wrong. I have checked out for this error and have gone through several forums but i haven't come across a single effective solution to get it working. Some people had suggested me to install recommended updates, Ive tried out that as well but no luck. Let me know if you come across any solution for fixing this issue as well.

I wanted to know if you both are using latest version of Windows AIK? if not then download and install the latest one and see if you both are able to get rid of that error. I have come across some people who were facing same error message and in their case they were using Windows AIK from Vista RTM where as they were using SP1 image for capturing. So just check out these things first and report back for further help.

    Finally Solved

Akiraa i have fixed it out in my case, even i was having latest version of Windows AIK installed but Ive found that there are 3 different versions of WIMGAPI.DLL (x86, x64, & ia64) they are in c:\program files\WAIK\tools in my case. After copying x86 version of the dll in to the directory having WSIM executable, Windows System Image Manager started running fine. Just try out what ive tried and let me know if it is helping you out as well or not, best of luck.

    the solution

I am not sure if Leoniee solution is right or not but i wanted to add that i have ran in to exactly the same issue and installing WAIK v.1.1 for SP1 of VISTA had helped me out. If you want then you can download it from here and test it out.

Re: WAIK error 0x800F0823 during cataloging WIM image

I have the same problem and have tried the solution to copy the wimgapi.dll to the system folder and the same directory as the Image manger.exe file, this did overcome the problem of file not being found but I'm still getting the 0x800F0823 error can anyone please help this is so frustrating!

    Im on vista ultimate sp2
