Missing sys32/drivers/matrixfg.sys error on starting Windows Vista

I am getting a error message that some matrixfg.sys file is damaged and it is causing error on boot. I am using Windows Vista and it is not a very old system. I had just installed the fresh copy a few months ago. I am having a RAID 0 setup also. I had upgraded Vista from XP. I think the issue lies there. On XP there were no problems and no error. I am suspicious about the compatibility.

Try to run a setup repair. But it is recommended that you must take your data backup or else it would be a major issue with the system. The recovery environment offers you a number of option through which you can configure the setup. The best option is to boot from Vista DVD and then click on Repair. Choose Startup Repair from the current menu. If this does not work then you have to check which hardware is causing issue in the system.

Try to run SFC /Scannow. It will show you a set of errors if there are any. Second thing go in Device Manager and see whether there is any pending or uninstall hardware left. You have to update your system drivers on the base of Vista compatibility and then only it is going to work well. The sys file that is giving you error can be cause due to some missing or invalid file.

I am no techie but I had similar issues after upgrading from Vista home to Ultimate with SP1. Found this fix and out of desperation I tried it and it worked.
    1. On startup select F12.
    2. Select BIOS setup
    3. Onboard Devices
    4. Flash cache OFF
    5. select SATA Operation Change from AHCI to ATA
    6. restart
    Viola!
