Vista ultimate - product key - installation

I got a Vista Business Update DVD and installed Vista Ultimate 32bit for testing on my notebook. Now after I week of this installation I bought a Vista Ultimate with product key. I tried activating the test version with the bought product key but I get an error message saying “key from my Vista Ultimate DVD is already in use.” First, I don’t know why is saying that my license is in use. Secondly I don’t want to install entire vista again with the newly bought DVD.

Is there any way I can ultimate the test version of Vista Ultimate installed? if yes, please let me know how.

Try the below method to activate your Vista operating system:

1. First of all run an elevated Command Prompt by finding the Command Prompt icon in Start Menu, right-clicking on it and selecting “Run as Administrator”. (You can also type “command prompt” in the search box, right-click the Command Prompt icon and select “Run as Administrator”.) Click "Continue" in the User Account Control (UAC) pop-up if you have UAC turned on.
2. After that in the command prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:
   slmgr.vbs -ipk <insert your product key here>
3. Now you have to type the following command in the command prompt window and press Enter:
   slmgr.vbs -ato
