New Gateway laptop gives install error 0x8007045D

Trying to install Windows Vista on a Gateway laptop but it ends with error code 0x8007045D. In brief it is gateway MP6954 laptop that came with 2 partitions, one is of 6.82 GB locked for system restore with PC Angel. And the second one is of 527 GB. So I used Partition Magic 8 to resize and create new partitions where I can install Vista. I created one partition of 52 GB and ran the burned DVD from ISO of Vista 32bit.

I setup vista to format the unused drive space, assuming it would set up the partitions to its optimal format but when it reaches about 42% of progress bar, installation gets hanged and after couple of minutes I get an error code 0x8007045D. I tried it few times but the error was same. Finally I installed windows XP, that got installed without any problems and I found that Vista setup formatted the partition properly using the NTFS format. Also there are few vista files that copied during the setup but why is it not able to complete the installation? How can we get rid of Error 0x8007045D?

    Please help.

I would love to help you but am not able to understand your situation properly. Can you tell me are you attempting a 'Clean Install' rather than an 'Upgrade'? Also are you trying to run Vista installation DVD from within Media, or booting
from it? Also you have mentioned that you created a partition of 52 Gb and there is also a reserved partition of 6.84Gb… than where are rest of space? You said something about 527GB, what is that?

    Vista error

I’m not sure about the cause of problem because I personally never had this error code but after searching on web I found few guys facing same problem and the cause came up was their DVD burning speed. They had burned their ISO DVD at the maximum speed and were getting problems. So try burning a new DVD at lower burning speed, then try to install Vista from the same. See if it works.

    RE: Vista error

WOW, thanks a million for the help buddy. I was having headache from a month with this installation. As per your instructions I tried burning the DVD at slowest speed on my Apple computer as it has better configuration and tried installing vista again. Guess what, problem solved, There was no more error.
