    Intel RAID 82801ER ICH5R = BSOD stop 7

I am trying to make clean installation of vista using its installtion disc on RAID 0 with Intel 82801ER ICH5R controller but i am getting

Whats' the version of Intel sata driver in your system currently? you can try installing Intel sata driver ver 5.0.0.1032 and check out if that's helping in carrying out the installation successfully? I have come across some installing same for getting rid of error you are getting. Some people have tried installing xp in dual boot and then installing Intel RAID driver 5.0.0.1032 as well.

    RE: Intel RAID 82801ER ICH5R = BSOD stop 7

Borgnine my system is having D875PBZ board and i cant install Intel sata driver ver 5.0.0.1032 as Intel no longer supports my board. Is there anything else i can try out rather than installing xp as dual boot? I just need to get vista working on my system anyhow. I did not had any issue as such when i was running xp on same machine. I am not willing to switch back to xp that's why i had formatted my drive for making a clean installation of vista but now this error is letting me run of out of ideas. What will you suggest me in this case?

Since you have mentioned that intel no longer supports your board i cant think of any solution rather than installing xp as dual boot. May be that was the reason people had installed xp in dual boot.

I have checked regrading you error and i have come across a number of threads related to it in this forum itself. So just search for BSOD STOP: 0x0000007E and go through the threads that come up and see if you are able to find a possible fix for that error. I have come across different cause for this error so i am not able to make out the solution which will help you. I dont think installing xp in dual boot will be a good idea, there should be a fix for it. I will carry out my research and will post back if i come across any effective workaround for fixing your issue.

    Re: Intel RAID 82801ER ICH5R = BSOD stop 7

I got win 7 to install doing an upgrade option from vista 32 ultimate.
I had to pick the 82801ER raid driver from floppy/usb to install vista. then I did the upgrade advisor and it said unknown on the intel raid driver. I started the win 7 install from the desktop and let it download setup files.

in the device manager I have

    Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller
    driver version 5.5.0.1035

Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATARaid Controller
    driver version 1.0.0.50

    i have 2 150gb maxtor sata 1 drives for C raid 0
and 2 wd 500gb non raid on the silicon 3112 controller

    ABIT IC7-G
    p4 3ghz @ 3.5ghz
2gb mushkin extreme ddr500 dual channel
    ati x1950GT

i couldnt get a clean install to work with the floppy or usb, but the upgrade method works
    hope this helps someone
