    Hi,

Did you ever solve this problem? I have an HP machine running Vista and I am receiving the same error message as you posted.

Please let me know if you can shed any light

    Bill

I installed switchproxy (A firefox addon) the other day, and that is when the issue arose. Looks like it has some problems under vista.

Re: DNS client has stopped working

The resolution for myself was to select "Manage" from My Computer, Select 'Event Viewer' -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events, Find -> 'DNS Client'...and then find the first date that the problem occured on.

Then run system restore from the start menu, Coose a different restore point , and select a restore point before the date that the problem occured on.

Let it restore. The only downside I can see from this method is that it requires the restore point to still be available, and depending upon how long you have had the error, the restore point may have been removed.

Also any software you have installed will need to be reisntalled again. But this tume, Make a restore point, (System Protection -> System Restore) and then install the programs. Also ensure no windows updates are applied until after you have the software installed.
