    HP Laser Jet 1020

    Dear Sir

I am realy upset with this windows VISTA, windows XP was very good. I had
purchased HP Laser Jet 1020 printer which is working in XP in just one click
(plug & play), but in windows vista it is not yet configured (not workable)
although i has use every drive software and methode. It seems that every body
is becomes upset with windows vista in different aspects.

It is requested kindly solve our problems....... Thanks!

Laserjet 4 is the older version of HP printer commands. May work for
most new HP printers. Would be surprised if HP stopped supporting them
in her new line of printers... :)

Well I have a HP Laserjet 1018 that works perfectly with Vista, so I would
    think yours should work too?

What I found that worked was to connect the printer directly to the Vista
laptop first, install it, and then connect it back to the network and
    install it and it worked
    perfectly.

I got this from a google search about 6 months ago and it works.

Ok, seriously ppl, I just installed HP LJ1020 with NO TWEAKS.

Using it on Vista Home Basic and will do it now on Ultimate to see if it
    worked as advertised:

    1) unplug the printer. (USB unplug) (if it's not plugged in - that ok then)
    2) pop in the CD, install the SOFTWARE (driver really)
    3) IT WILL tell you to plug in the PRINTER -> DO SO
    4) then it FAILS (that is OOOO-KKKKK) just continue
    5) just be patient and REBOOT!
    7) after reboot (printer is PLUGGED in from the step #3), you will have the
printer, and Vista might tell you in a small baloon that printer is being
installed, blah, blah - just wait a few seconds...
    8) go to your PRINTERs
    9) open Properties, print TEST page. Enjoy!

I also have an HP LaserJet 1020 which works perfectly in both Vista Ultimate x86
    and Vista Business x64.

You can download Vista drivers (both x86 and x64) from here:

    RE: HP Laser Jet 1020

I know exactly how you fee, Ahmed. I once had an HP printer hooked up to my
new Vista..it didn't work...it wasn't Vista ready. I had to have them send
me a new disk for downloading the correct program for that printer...it still
didn't work well. So I went and bought a really cheap little Lexmark that
said on the box, "Vista Ready"! HA!

That is the biggest joke yet! This thing is soooo bad....and it uses ink
like its dying of thirst. My problem is not so much with Vista, its that it
was released before anyone else bothered to get on board and upgrade their
    stuff for Vista.
