    Resize the system partition

How can I resize the boot or system partition?

After reinstalling Vista, the old system Disk C became bootable... now, I
    can't resize it... :(

    From the Disk Management Help:

"For logical drives, boot, or system volumes, you can extend the volume only
into contiguous space and only if the disk can be upgraded to a dynamic
disk. For other volumes, you can extend the volume into noncontiguous space,
but you will be prompted to convert the disk to dynamic."

Perhaps it might help if you described the drive size and free space.

You need to use a third party partitioning utility such as BootItNG

I recomment Freeware EASEUS Partition Manager Home Edition. It supports Windows Vista now and works well in resizing partitions.

    Re: Resize the system partition

If there is unallocated space around the partition, you can use diskpart command to extend partition without pay. However diskpart command cannot resize boot partition.

For running Windows xp/vista, you can resize boot partition with Acronis Disk Director Suite Or you can also try some freeware like Paragon Partition Manager Express, Ranish Partition Manager etc.

For running Windows server, this article tells us some free methods to resize server partition

Windows Vista built-in tool has shrink and expand functions in Windows Disk Management. If there is unallocated space around system partition, you can use windows vista built-in tool to resize system partition larger without third party software. If there is no unallocated space around system partition, how to resize system partition larger? A free magic partition manager is the best choice.

After searching in Google, I find the home edition of EASEUS Partition Master is free for windows home users. You only need to drag and move the partition on disk map in EASEUS Partition Master main interface. I have tried it to extend my system partition, it can extend my partition without rebooting my computer. Any other software can do it ?
