    No bluetooth control panel

I'm trying to install a Kensington bluetooth dongle. I don't have a control
panel for bluetooth, nor do I have "my bluetooth places" anywhere. The
device manager shows the kensington driver is installed and says it is
working properly. How do I get the bluetooth control panel so I can add and
    configure hardware for bluetooth devices?

    Re: No bluetooth control panel

For Bluetooth troubleshooting suggestions, open Vista's
"Help and Support" and type "Bluetooth" in the Search Help box,
then press the Enter key located on your keyboard.

I have done that. It references using either a control panel for bluetooth
devices or "My Bluetooth Places." I don't have either one on my Vista
laptop. How do I get them? The device manager says bluetooth is installed
and working properly. I can't access anything to change settings for
bluetooth. In checking startup services and processes, bluetooth is set to
automatically startup and says they are currently running, including the
tray icon exe. There is nothing in the system tray referencing bluetooth.
From the start menu, typing Bluetooth displays a bluetooth program, but
selecting it and hitting enter doesn't do anything at all. The hour glass
flashes momentarily, but no program or control panel opens up.

    Re: No bluetooth control panel

Open Vista's Help and Support and in the Search box type: BLUETOOTH
and press the enter key on your keyboard. Then click on the various Bluetooth topics.

I today installed a Targus bluetooth USB adapter/dongle and the software it
came with installed or created a control panel Icon. The bluetooth CPL was
not there prior to the install. I would think there should be something
    similar provided by Kensington

Also you may want to switch control panel to the classic view to see if it
    shows up there

    Re: No bluetooth control panel

I need to find the Bluetooth Device Manager in WXP2. I have tried Control
Panel, Desktop Search, Help etc. I have a BlueSoleil dongle and the drivers
installed and paired OK with mobile phone but it is only partly working, eg.
the File Transfer Wizard does not recognise its existence. Where is this
Manager which is referred to in Help and in postings, please?

    Re: No bluetooth control panel

I recently installed a BlueSoleil dongle and had the same problem.
Before the installation I could enter the Blue Devices window provided
in the Control Panel. After the installation it no longer worked, the
mouse would just flash momentarily and stop.

This wouldn't have been a problem if the BlueSoleil software wasn't
useless. So I started digging around and found under Services found the
Bluetooth Support Services stopped and it's startup type Disabled. I
changed it to back to automatic (I'm thinking the BlueSoleil install
altered it) and it has worked fine since. In fact, I went back and
uninstalled the BlueSoleil software and am just using the Windows
    Bluetooth Devices application.

    Re: No bluetooth control panel

I have Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with Windows XP media center 2003, SP 2.
When I purchased the computer it had bluetooth connectivity, but I didn't own
any bluetooth devices and so I think I deleted the bluetooth program off of
    my computer...
    Questions:
    1. What would the integrated bluetooth device be called? (in the Broadcom
control suite there is something called Broadcom 44OX 01/100 integrated
controller or Samsung MP0603H? Is that it?)
    2. How can I reinstall the bluetooth suite in the control panel? (do I need
to just reinstall portions of XP or is it bundled with the Dell software? Is
    there a patch online?)
    3. Is there a shortcut on the keyboard to turn bluetooth reception on and
off? (There is a light-up icon by the on/off button. The light-up BT icon
is off. There is no obvious shortcut icon on any of the keys)

Answers to all or part of the issue would be appreciated.

Go to Dell's tech support website for your model laptop and download the
Bluetooth drivers. Install them. Look at your user manual (or at Dell's
website for the user manual) to see how to use Bluetooth.
