Thread: Security Center is off and won't be started

Re: Security Center is off and won't be started

Well, I did exactly as was mentioned below within "Security Center", it was
set to "Automatic" but the "Services Status" showed "Stopped" and when I push
"Start" a small window popped up indicating Error Code 1068 and would not
    allow it to start.
So I'm still confused how to start Security Center.
BTW the "Security Accounts" window was "Automatic and OK.

    UAC= User Access Control
Without you knowing what it is and where to find it then no doubt you have
not turned it off and that's what I was wondering. Turning off UAC can cause
all kinds of problems and there is no long list yet as to what it can cause.
I thought maybe you had turned it off and wanted to see if maybe this was
effecting your system and causing you this problem.

Re: Security Center is off and won't be started

Thanks all. I checked and UAC is turned on.
I still am getting a Security Alert Icon which tells me that my Security
Center service is turned off and when I click the button to turn it on, I get
a small message window saying that "The Security Center service cannot be
    started." Any thoughts?

Re: Security Center is off and won't be started

As of recently Trend is known to cause problems.

Replace Trend with the free AVG http://free.grisoft.com/ or Avast
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html, and Windows Firewall and Windows
Defender. Disabling Trend is not enough. You need to completely uninstall
    it.
