    System Settings Protector Has Stopped Working

    Statement:
    "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly windows will close
    the program and notify you if a solution is available".

    Ok Gurus,
    what is causing this? it shows at every start/restart and there is never a
    "solution" found I just finished downloading 38 up dates to my "new" laptop
    with the latest OS, NVidia drivers were part of that session and now the
    screen "blinks" black and comes back on sometimes it "blinks" at no
    particular time. It did this before the updates also. The only thing I can
    do is close the dialogue box, "IT" NEVER has a "solution". I have Norton
    Anti Virus and Spybot Search and Destroy. But still get tracking cookies.

    Vista does not have a program called System Settings Protector? Is this part
    of Norton or Spybot?

    Also, Nvidia has had a lot of problems with their drivers being compatible
    with Vista, I would go online to find the latest drivers for your particular
    video card and do not update the drivers unless you are having a specific
    problem with the current version.

    Thanks for your help, I continue to get this error statement, Nvidia drivers
    were updated properly for my card. I should have stated that the "System
    Setting" error statement started before the video drivers were updated. The
    system error happens on restarts as well as an initial boot. Is there a
    "Dr.Watson" I can use to look for conflicts? Norton came pre loaded and I
    was getting it before Spybot as well. where would I look to see if something
    were causing a conflict?

    Sorry if I may misspell something but I'm on meds for Back and Heart
    problems and a tumors. Ok I went to the event viewer and looked at the Error
    and Warnings shown.Maybe part of Norton does Vista have system restore? will
    that wipe out the wireless LAN settings? And I still cannot forward anything
    out of the newsgroups. I send and receive mail ok but no forwarding.

    Error-App (Event ID # 1000) <> there are about 30 of these Look like at the
    Start/Restarts
    Warning- User profile Service (Event ID #1530) there are about 20/25 of
    these Start/Restarts also
    Error-Search (Event ID# 3079) Gatherer (1~2 of these)

    I just got this laptop in April and have an extended warranty on it. I mean
    it doesn't stop anything from working as far as I can tell, the only thing I
    haven't tried is the printer.I am worried about security issues, banking
    etc.
    Thanks for taking the time to consider whats not happening, right now I'm
    confined to bed but next week I could arrainge to return the laptop to Fry's
