I've tried every solution from every post on the internet and this is what finally worked for me. So simple. I reset my modem and router. Haven't had the problem since.

Hello people,
I had a problem with a hp vista laptop. No internet connection after sleep, said something about identifying and local only. Found a tip on some page, cannot remember where but: check your startup settings. Write msconfig + enter in the command prompt. Go to startup and look for a "cognizance identity and access management" or something that looks similar.
I had switched it off, trying to speed up my laptop startup and it gave me trouble with my wireless internet after sleep mode.
I know this answer comes a bit late but I had the problem for a couple of years before I figured it out.
Hope it helps someone.
Just some dude :)
I was experiencing this problem on a Windows 7 Professional client PC. The resolution was to add the exchange server IP address to the hosts file.
I think there are some DNS resolution issues following the wake-up call. For those not familiar with the hosts file it is located in the folder windows\system32\drivers\etc.
