You might also want to post this to an MSDN newsgroup.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 2 (KB 92189

I downloaded this service pack and it froze at 82%. Now, when I go to
windows update, this says it needs to be installed. It will not install, but
it continues to tell me I need to install it. I went to the microsoft site
and downloaded this service pack manually from the website, and still the
automatic updates thinks it needs to be installed. What should I do?

You installed the update yourself, right?

You can right-click the update and select hide. Then you wont have to worry
    about it anymore.

I can't find anywhere to "right-click." The screen where it shows up does
not allow me to take that action. Where do I do this?

    Go to Windows Updates:

    Click Start
Input "update" in the search box then hit enter
    Click view available updates

I'm assuming this is where you see the update?

Right-click the update and select hide

Similar events happened to me. MS Chat India remotely downloaded and
installed MS SQL Server 2005 SP2. But I discovered that it didn't actually
install because the version number never changed. Win Update Vista still
won't install the KB921896 update. I cannot find any solutions to this
anywhere (even the Microsoft posters). MS Chat India couldn't explain the
error code in Win Update and took three hours to accomplish very little; the
process was painfully slow and needed two more hours (so I was told). I
believe that I must call a Certified Microsoft Technician for help. All
sources of information on the Internet say that the original server 2005 was
incompatible with Vista but is compatible with the installation of server
SP2. The core of the problem appears to be that the update will not install
correctly on any number of PC's. This appears to have been a neglected area
    at the corporate level.

I was having trouble getting this update installed on my Windows Vista
Professional SP1 and what I did to fix the problem (was getting
prompted for install files) was I downloaded the install for Express
    2005 here: http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql...d/default.aspx

unpack the files (run the .exe) and then copy those files to some other
folder. Now run the update and when it asks for the files use the files
    you just copied

NOTE: you do not have to run through the install of SQL 2005 after the
.exe unpacks the files, but you should move the files before ending the
    set up
