I had a similar frustrating experience trying to get my SPV 600 recognised by
my Vista Home Premium laptop after downloading the Windows Mobile Device
Centre. I had two weeks of intermitent recognition/synch. On the plus side if
I could get the pc to recognise my phone, the synch process was seamless.
Then, by accident, I discovered that my pc will only recognise my phone if I
have an internet connection. This might be the same with you Brian. If anyone
can explain why this I would appreciate it as Activesynch always used to
synch offline.
Sorry to hear that Bob. My problems with connection went away after my Vista
installation "settled down". A synching problem (sync failed - Active Sync
encountered a problem on the desk top) went away after I laboriously went
through my entire contact list (on the PC, in Outlook) and deleted all
duplicate entries.
I'm having the same issue: I only have the option in Windows Media Player to
synchronise to my device's internal storage, even though there's an SD card
in it, which I can browse through in the Sync Center.
Environment:
- Acer n311 with a 2GB SD card
- Windows Vista Home Premium
I'm having a similar problem, sync thinks it has worked and I can view my
files etc but it is not syncing at all. I either get 'waiting for network' or
it just keeps on trying. I worked perfectly before the upgrade to the new
version.
I too could not see the storage card from WMP, but found this link in
another thread, 'FIX: Only the external storage is available when you
synchronize content from Windows Media Player 11 to a Windows Mobile
5-based device with AKU 2.3 or a later AKU'
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931621/en-us), installed
Windows6.0-KB931621-x86.msu on the PC, and now it works.
I'm still having problems syncing contacts & calendar, but at least
this is progress.
