I need some help here to use remote desktop from windows xp to an windows vista pc. My friend is having some problem with an application. I tried to help him through phone but it did not worked. Now I am here trying to find out some solution by which I can run remote desktop through my windows xp pc. And the person on the other end has a Vista laptop. I had never did this before. I tried to type the ip address of the pc in remote desktop but it is not working. What should I do.

First run windows update. There are some patches which are released recently to fix the problem with remote desktop. You will need to check that your system has Terminal Client 6.0 in your windows xp pc. Then you can move ahead with the connectivity. You can find that in KB925876. Run the update first and then go ahead with the connectivity stuff. You will need to find out the terminal service process to establish the connection.
