    Error 0xC004D401 (Activation) Please Help

I recently installed a fresh copy of Windows Vista on one of my desktop. Installation went and it was working fine so far. Since past two days whenever I boot up my system I use to get a message saying the following:

"There is a problem with your license so notifications will no longer appear. You will no longer recive notifications, including those about your license or activation. Try to fix this problem, click one of the links below.
    Error: 0xC004D401
Description: The security processor reported a system file mismatch error.”

When I try to validate by going to Microsoft website, it always give me an error message saying: “Unrecognized error. Error on Windows validation”. As I am not even able to validate, I tried changing my Vista Product key but every time it ends up saying

    “Invalid product key
    Code: 0xC004F033
Description: The Software Licensing Service reported that the product key is not allowed to be installed. Please see the event log for details.”

Now I have no idea left. Can anyone here please tell me what is wrong with my system and how can I get rid of this? Thank you.

You should have also posted the EVent Viewer log to help us analyze the problem more deeply. Anyways, do you have Spyware Doctor installed on your System? I am asking this because i have several using facing this problem one thing which was common in most of those users was Spyware Doctor 4.0. Probably this is the one which results in such error messages and problems.

If you have the same on your computer, uninstall it immediately and see if it helps you in anyway. If still it wont request then better try to file a service request (free of charge) on the WGA hotline at: http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...&gprid=9860&;; and let me know what the service request number is.

Hey guys, even i am having the same problem with my Windows Vista Home Premium. No matter what i try, the error keeps on appearing and wont even allow me to validate. I even tried going through your suggestion and uninstalled Spyware Doctor (Yes, i too was having it installed on my computer) but nothing changed. Still i get th validation error.

So as you said, i tried getting support request number, which in my case it is SRZ070320000614. Can you please help me out with this?

What version of Windows Vista have you installed in your pc? Try the following procedure:

1: From the Start menu, select cmd window. If cmd application is not
visible type cmd in the "Start Search"
2: Right Click on the cmd window
3: Scroll down and select "Run as Administrator"
4: run the command "slmgr -ato"
5: Wait for sometime to see a dialog box
6: Most likely you will see a success page.
7: Visit http://www.microsoft.com/genuine website and validate again.
    8: Restart your computer.
