In OE this would create a news account and open it in that newsgroup.
You might want to customize your account before posting with it.
Hopefully WM does the same; otherwise just use the server name
and the newsgroup name separately in whatever way they do allow
them to be used. Similar parsing of the above URL would need to be done
by most newsreaders other than OE too because it is not a standard syntax.

In any case I suggest that all users of the Help portal
who want to post to common newsgroups such as this one
and the other 5 at the bottom of the list here

consider also crossposting to Vista General Discussion too.
That way you will probably give your post a better targeted readership.
It will also allow Vista users to find your information by searching there.
E.g. when Vista posts are made only in the provided common newsgroups
all of their information may be lost to Vista users who only try searching
on their Help portal.

you can use the Help link and then do a find for Advanced options

Recently I added a Vista platform to my network. My DI-824SUV is a print
server that works fine with PRTmate Printer Port driver for Win98 and
Win-XP platforms. So far so good, but in Vista I met the PRTmate
problem that you described one year (!) ago. Nowadays D-Link promises
to adapt all their software to Vista, but there is another solution,
and a quite simple one too.

Don't use PRTmate, this printer port driver contains the problem, but
create your own. D-Link has provided the solution on their website
<ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/>. In brief:


- start condition: your pinter has been locally installed
- open the "printers" screen and show the properties of the printer
- select tab "port"and delete PRTmate, you won't need it.
- Creat your own port with "Add port" and select "Standard TCP/IP
Port"
- select "new Port", this starts the "Printer Port Wizzard" - Next
- enter the LAN IP addres of your DI-824SUV and type a Port Name
(suggestion: DI824-LPT or DI824-USB) - Next
- select "custom" and open "Settings"
- Under Tab "Port Settings" select Protocol LPR
- In LPR Settings enter Queue Name "lp" (lower case!) to select the
Parallel Port or "lpUSB0" (USB-zero) for the USB port on your
DI-824SUV print server
- Check "LPR Byte Counting Enabled, UNcheck ""SNMP Status Enabled -
OK
- See the settings overview and Finish the Wizzard
- On the Printer settings port Window be sure you checked (activated)
your new port
- CloseNow you should be able to print :)

Note 1: I used the parallel Port and did not test the USB port.
Note 2: D-Link suggests that you can make two different Printer Port
Drivers for LPT and USB, so you can attach 2 printers. Nice feature,
not tested.

I did test the USB port.
It took several attempts, but I finally succeded with a bit different scenario:
I added a new printer and created a new TCP port, while adding, with suggested settings.
Many thanks to "klabang" -- I could not find a solution at the above-mentioned FTP site or elsewhere.
