Hey, guys. I have a problem. I'm not sure where to post this. My
younger brother's computer won't boot correctly. It will get to the
loading screen with the bars, but just stays there forever. Just the
moving bars and "Microsoft Corporation". I got a Vista Recovery Disk
and tried to boot from the disk so I could hopefully go into system
restore or something, but it just does the same exact thing.
However, randomly, twice when trying to load from disk I got a screen
where I could press F8 to get more options for starting, and it took me
to the screen with "Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, etc". So the
first time I tried selecting the option "Boot from last known good
configuration". Same exact thing happened. The second time I selected
start in safe mode and it went to the "Loading windows files" (I think)
screen. It was scrolling through a bunch of files, but then it stopped
and wouldn't do anything. The last one listed on the bottom when that
happened was something like " ...\ disk.sys ".
That's the best I've been able to do, and cannot find out how to fix it.
I have searched all over the internet (here, too) and found a few
forums with similar problems, but they were never resolved. Most of
what I've found are people with problems installing the OS and with
crcdisk.sys (something like that). Still, I cannot figure it out. All
my brother does on it is play World of Warcraft. I asked him if he
installed anything or did anything recently and he said he hadn't.
Here's some information:
Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5965
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 2.10 GHz
HDD: Toshiba MK2555GSX(S2)
Optical Disk Drive: MAT****ADVD-RAM UJ880ES(PM)
That's about all the info I know (got some from BIOS). Please, if
anyone here could help at all, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
