    Change Location of Hibernation File

I am using two 250Gb hard drives on my desktop computer. One of them has Vista installed and second just have the data. Due to some reason I was thinking to move “hibernfil.sys” on the secondary hard drive. I am not sure whether it is possible or not but still I would like to ask if it is possible how can I change location of my hibernfil.sys?

My system is Windows Vista Ultimate edition. Thanks for your helps.

Re: Change Location of Hibernation File

As far as i know it is not possible in any way because Hiberfil.sys is a system file and it should be on the hard drive where your system is located, right? Also it is a hidden file which is located the root folder of the drive where the operating system is installed. The Windows Kernel Power Manager reserves this file when you install Microsoft Windows. The size of this file is approximately equal to the amount of random access memory (RAM) that is installed on the computer. However, you can turn off hibernation. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920730. By the was can you tell me what makes you think to change it location? What benefit are you going to get by doing so?
