Hi, I'm new here, so pl3ease don't "jump on me". ok?
BUT seems to me... u kind of borrow the SOL.EXE from another vista computer,
i.e. get someone to SEND it to you. or something like that. I wouldn't think
SOL.EXE has a lot of subroutines and whartnots, probably a self-contained
"exec" file. IF I wasn't helpful... sorry.. Just trying.. (p.s. this is my
1st post reply)

Click the Start button , click Control Panel, click Programs and
Features, and then click Turn Windows features on or off.
One of the entries is GAMES, you can make sure there is a tick in there
to install it again. But I think SOL.exe is the WinXP version, while
Vista is solitaire.exe? I could be wrong on that.
Frenchy
I went into the control panel as Frenchy suggested and solitaire is
checked so I don't know where to go from there. I have not tried to
borrow sol.exe from anyone else as I don't know anyone who is
unfortunate enough to have Vista. I regret the day I got a new computer
with Vista. It is the most user unfriendly thing I have ever seen. I
cannot use the photo editing programs I have with it and to add insult
to injury these programs are no longer produced.

Fenchy is right !
The precise thing is the whole folder called Solitaire :
ProgramFiles\Microsoft Games\Solitaire
It has a 2-3 other files that might be needed.(and a shortcut , u might like).
BUT I suspect his response of "tick right box" is also/more correct. in any
event, Hope u can play solitaire soon. I like "mahjong" game.

I'm sory to hear about your vista-experience. I too bought a new compuer
recently, and had a few setup problems myself, including a new image-restart
after the movie WMP 11 didn't work right. my latest beef is with a networking
component "bug/new function feature". SO I understand frustration.
and am not happy with the security-vendor, wireless keybd/mouse, ISP, and
computer-maker experiences. Some time I get the feeling I should have just
bought all the components myself, since I paid a ,lot and got little for it.
anyways, u don't want to hear my gripes....
In theory, I think my "plan" should work, assuming no files are hidden.
Maybe Frenchy can help us out. by sending u the folder. I don't want to
expose my email-url to the "net". maybe a nice microsoft person might help
out?

What version of Vista do you have? Home, Home Premium, Business,
Ultimate, 32 bit, 64 bit? Not all versions have all the games!
You said you deleted Solitaire, so does that mean you have actually ever
played solitaire on your current Vista machine?
If when you followed my earlier instructions, there was a + sign next to
GAMES and when you click that, it shows all the possible games you can
have and it is there that you need to see the tick in the Solitaire box.
And I repeat, SOL.exe (the executable that runs the Solitaire game) IS
NOT a Vista game. Vista has a brand new Solitaire game.
Just for the record. Open COMPUTER from the Start Menu. Double click C
Drive and double click PROGRAM FILES and then double click MICROSOFT
GAMES. Those are all the games you get with your version of Vista. Is
one of them SOLITAIR. Please report back!
A two second search on Google finds
http://www.thepcspy.com/read/running...taire_in_vista
That will explain how you can grab a copy of SOL.exe from another Win XP
machine and install it.
Frenchy
I have Vista home premium 64 bit. I did check in the game folder and
solitaire is there along with other games. You are correct it is
solitaire.exe not sol.exe and when I clicked on the solitaire it gave me
a message stating that it could not find c/program files/microsoft
games/solitaire.exe.Yes I did play solitaire on the new pc and I put a
shortcut to it on my desktop. I deleted the shortcut and could no longer
play solitaire.

Hi keala,
Click the Start button , click Control Panel, click Programs and
Features, and then click Turn Windows features on or off.
Uncheck Solitaire under Games, OK. Let it "uninstall" it. Then go back and
check it again.
