Vista and ATI 8.5 Display driver atikmdag crashes

I have tried running the ati driver version 8.1 and 8.5 and I am getting error quite frequently that "Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered", while playing games with a blue screen. I have a Gigabyte motherboard with Core 2 E8300 processor and 2gb of ram installed on my machine. The graphics card is Radeon HD 3690. Any help will be appreciated.

Have you tried using the Microsoft driver after installing the ati driver on your system? Also, check to see if there are any kind of overclocking done on the graphics card, try to underlock the GPU frequency and see if that works. Other than that can you check the temperature of the video card, if it is not getting overheated?

I have tried installing the Microsoft driver as well, but i think that ati's driver is having some issues with it. I have a very good component with good power supply and there is no overheating of the graphics card as well and no over clocking is done as well. I have a Asus motherboard and I dont play games on it as well. I have also updated to a dual monitor that needs more then integrated graphics, so therefore i got the HD 4670 graphics card which would give 2 DVI output at any normal resolution. I have also installed the ATI 8.12 version of the driver which is the latest but even after that i am getting daily crashes with atikmdag display driver message. This is really frustrating, if only there was a real solution, then it would have been great.
