External HDD Drive is not Detected / Driver is not getting install

I am having a Western Digital External HDD. It is a new one. I have around 3 different desktop in my system. The driver work well on two computers. While the third one which has Windows Vista fails to read the driver. I do not think there must be any problem in using this external drives. It is a bit complicated for me to find a proper solution for the same. What should I do know. Thanks.

Go in Device Manager and check that if there is unknown device listed. Or any device related to the external drive with exclamation mark. Just right click on the same and uninstall it. Then start your system and check back. It will automatically install the drive back again. I had did the same for my external hardware which was not working in Vista.

For a external hard drive I think there is no need to add any driver. It is basically auto-detected and if there is some problem is using them on Vista, then there can be issue with the port or cable. I will advice you to use a different port and then check back. They are mostly plug and play devices which work on common usb interface.
