DVD Drive disappeared on Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMi

I am having a Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMi laptop. It came with Windows Vista installed. The DVD drive suddenly got disappeared. It is not reading any of my audio cd's. I restarted the system and it appeared. Later on after few days I have to burn a disc. I added some audio, the burning process failed at 98%. There is error that the destination drive is not ready. It spoiled the disc. What can be issue with DVD drive.

It looks like that your DVD drive will fail. You can start with re-installing the drive through Device Manager. And if that does not work you will have to buy a new one. Go on Device Manager and right click on DVD and choose uninstall. Reboot your system and then check back. Try updating the drivers and then try back. My DVD drive has stopped working already in Vista and for that I had bought a new usb dvd drive.

It is quiet not recommended to burn the disc if you are drive is under such condition. You can check the connection. But for that you will need to open the laptop. The internal connection might be having some kind of issue due to which you are facing the problem. A number of time driver update works. .
