SD Card Reader not reading device

I have a preinstalled Windows Vista operating system running on my Toshiba Satellite P105 laptop. This laptop comes with 5 internal card reader, if i am not mistaken. This car readers can read the Memory Stick Pro Duo without any problems but they are not able to read the Sd Memory card? The SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller also has the latest driver, when i checked it in the device manager? Can anyone tell me how do i solve this problem?

Could you please tell us whether you have formatted your SD memory card on the very first time or not? If not then try to do it first and the best method to format would be the Fat32 file format. Now try to restart the pc and then at the bootup, check if the Sd card reader is getting detected or not? Also you should use the "Safely remove hardware" option to remove the whole sd card from the computer, dont just unplug it without using this feature or else the SD card wouldnt work in the future.

In my case nothing seems to be working? I have a 2gb and a 4gb SDHC card that i am trying to get it working on my computer. I even tried to update the reader in the computer which i thought was outdated by downloading the proper latest version but that didnt seem to work either. Previously they used to work fine on my computer when i simply plugged it in my computer, but now it doesnt do anything?

I hope that you have a spare usb port in your laptop, so why not you try to buy some cheap external usb card readers and then check if the hardware inside isnt the problem or so? This way you will know if it is problem with the SDHC cards itself. You should also note that SD cards can be read in the SDHC reader but it cannot be done vice versa with the SDHC card.
