Windows 8: Unable to play Counter Strike 1.6 on Steam

This is the only game that i play on my PC since years. I was having a Gaming rig running on Windows 7 which is now updated to windows 8 successfully. I didn't noticed any problem with any programs or performance, but there is just one problem and it is the biggest one. Now i am not able to play Counter Strike 1.6 anymore since updated to windows 8.

I have tried everything, fixed OpenGL, changed compatibility mode, etc but nothing seems to be working. When i launch the game, it opens, changes my screen resolution to minimum automatically and then just a black screen. No sound nothing. Any idea what could be causing this problem? How can i fix it?

There is some compatibility problem with Counter Strike 1.6 and Windows 8 but many gamers have fixed it to work on Win 8 with few extra settings. The one i followed and that worked for me is shown in this YouTube video. Just have a look and make the necessary changes.

If the problem is with Compatibility why dont you guys run the same in Windows 7 compatibility mode by pres Win + W key? Just install and run the game as an Administrator as well as in Windows 7 or XP compatibility mode. It should work fine.
