‘DEVICE_CREATE_ERROR Invalid –call’ error message while launching Alan Wake

I have installed Alan Wake on the computer of mine. but I am not able to play the game because of below mentioned error message.

DEVICE_CREATE_ERROR Invalid –call

Very first thing which I wanted to tell you that you should try to verify the game cache.

• You should load Steam if it is already closed.
• Now go for Library section and right click on the game and choose Properties.
• Click on Local Files tab and Click on Verify integrity of game cache button.
• Wait till the process is completed and see whether it is working or not.

I am suggesting particular solution which will be helpful to fix the issue.
You should browse to following directory.

c:\users\<userid>\documents\Remedy\AlanWake

from that location you have to delete resolution.xml.
after that you should launch the game.

If above mentioned solution is not working than you have to run the game in Windows mode and see what results do you are getting.

• You have to enter -w1280 -h720 –window to Alan Wake Properties. After that Set Launch Options.
• Also you should try to start the game -nosound parameter.

Well I am suspecting that there is an issue with GPU driver. So I recommend that you visit the official website of the graphic card manufacturer. Get the latest version of drivers and install it on your computer. after doing that reboot your system.

1. Disable SLI
2. Reset the DPI setting to 100% from the custom size.
