Play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at 1680x1050 with Radeon HD 6850

I have got a copy for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim today. I have been looking forward to upgrade my GPU but till now haven’t purchased it. Now after getting this game I am thinking about getting AMD Radeon HD 6850 or a 6870. I would like to play the game with 1680x1050 resolutions with maximum settings. Does anyone of the cards capable to do this? My system confg is as follows:
    • Intel i5-750 2.66 GHz
    • Windows 7
    • 8 GB DDR3 1333 Ram
    • 1 TB Hard Drive

For maximum detail and edge smoothing, you need a quad-core processor or a fast dual core and a GTX 560 or Radeon HD 6850. If you select the default high details, come mostly from the same CPU even with a Geforce 9800 GTX or a Radeon HD 4870.

The Graphics menu contains numerous options to customize your computer Skyrim. So they are separately, among others, the term limits of NPCs, vegetation and objects in the game world, very fine. Only the settings for visibility can be changed in-game menu, all other options such as resolution, antialiasing, anisotropic texture filtering and the detail level of textures and shadows will need to change out of play.

For me, everything runs smoothly at 1920x1080, 4xAA and high, although I still have an older HD 4850 in the computer. Therefore, I find it a bit exaggerated, that one should have for these graphics settings a GTX 460 or HD 6850th The graphics on the console does not look much worse, so why should you need a new mid-range graphics card?

The graphics are really well made, even if there are many other games that look better, but to me it is more important that the atmosphere is right. Not for nothing that many still play Morrowind and Gothic

This config just to play it in Ultra
    • Intel core i5 650
    • 4GB of DDR3 ram
    • Nvidia Geforce GT440 up to 3307 MB
    • Resolution: 1280 x 960 (VGA display)

For some time I have against a loss of fluidity, perhaps it comes from my screen is quite old and rather large (wide screen plasma) and the fact that it is not HDMI but VGA.

In light of knowing that our graphics and Core i5-2500K is overclocked to 4 GHz, it becomes clear that Skyrim is limited by the CPU including 1920x1080, if that was not the case, the SLI GTX 460 would display the performance than a single GTX 570. At this level, the HD 6850 is the minimum to play in satisfactory condition: from 1680x1050, the GTX 550 Ti can no longer consistently show 30 fps or more, while the HD 5770 is certainly capable, but up to 1920x1080 experiences will not be pleasant as long as they do not even reach 35 fps on average.

Another game race to the bottom because of consoles. The controls are clearly not suitable for use on PC, some menu cannot even be used with the mouse. Very disappointed with that point.

You can force a full screen at 1680x1050 full screen and then click the display automatically resets to 1680x1050 when playing Basically, you have only a few values and adjust if necessary, add a few extra lines of code in the file SkyrimPrefs.ini, which can be found under Documents / My Games / Skyrim. Before you edit this file, however, we strongly recommend that you create a backup of it.

The Radeon HD 6850 only one to ten percent faster than the GeForce GTX 460 reference design (depending on the quality settings). Since it is the GeForce GTX 460 for the same price as the reference design is already in a about five percent faster variant is the Radeon HD 6850 and currently these costs just € 150, a fierce price war develops between the two graphics cards.

Skyrim is clamped to the original 60 fps limit which can be suppressed by adding the line "iPresentinterval = 0" to the file Skyrim.ini. Not surprisingly, it is the outdoor scenes with a lot of trees and dense vegetation are the most resource-intensive. Because it combines urban environment and nature, the village of wood River is one of the most demanding designs that are.
