i am trying to install fifa soccer 12 and i get this error on my xbox. there is internet connection. what does it mean?

Well, probably that error occurs on your XBOX when the console searches for previous version of the system update. There is nothing to worry. you can fix it simply with the following steps:

• Find a USB flash drive with at least 90 MB of free space.
• Plug the USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
• Download the system update for error code xxxx-3080-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
• Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
• Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
• Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your USB flash drive.
• Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
• If there is a disc in the console, remove it.
• Turn off the console.
• Remove all console storage devices, including any USB flash drives, external hard drives, or the internal hard drive on the Xbox 360 S console. Learn how to remove the hard drive.
• Plug the USB flash drive with the update into a USB port on console.
• Turn on the console. When the console starts, the software update should automatically start.

Hello according to me the steps specified by Maq.H is proper. did you tired with it. and if still you are facing the issue then i will suggest you to contact with the Sony and tell them about your issue. I am sure they will try to solve your issue.
