dead space 2 error: activation manager has encountered a problem

when i try to run dead space 2 i get a windows error. activation manager has encountered a problem and needs to close...

my computer meets the minimum system requirements i checked on husdawg system requirements lab. i have dell intel core 2 duo cpu e4500@2.2 ghz 2gb ram 256mb geforce 8600gt windows xp sp3.

someone please help. i want to play this game.

Well, to my guess if you are getting an activation error then it simply means that you are not using a genuine copy of the dead space 2 game or are you? Because if it is a genuine copy then you might have got the serial no. or code inside the game dvd cover or so that is to be used for activating the game and playing it. So if it is a illegal version of the copy then we cant help you as it is against the rules of the forums.

Have you tried to set the game's affinity to run on just 2 cores, if not then follow the below steps to set affinity (the game will need to be launched to perform these steps):

• First of all, open the task manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL at the same time and clicking the Task Manager button.
• After that in the Task Manager, click the tab labeled, Processes.
• Next, right-click on the process corresponding to the game
• Scroll down the menu to the Set Affinity option and select it.
• Remove the check mark from all but the first two processes, thus allowing only those two processes to be used for this application/game.
• Click OK when only the CPU 0 and CPU 1 are selected and Affinity is now set.

the game was already set on using two cpus but it still doesnt work. so i set the affinity to run on one cpu and it still doesnt work.
