Unable to activate cheats in Half-Life

I have a high configuration PC at home. The most common task I perform in my PC is internet surfing, downloading movies, songs and especially for gamming. I am an insane gamer. These days I have been playing a game Half-Life in my PC. It is an excellent game. My friends gave me some cheat codes of Half-Life. When I tried to activate the cheat codes I came across a strange issue. Whenever I tried to activate it an error message was being displayed saying” Unknown command: VModEnable”. Is anyone aware about this issue? If yes then please help me to activate the cheats.

The issue is not complicated. But as you are doing it for the first time you will find it complicated. I will definitely try my level best to make it easier for you as much as I can. To overcome this issue you need to reinstall the game again in your PC by removing the previous one. After re-installing the game it will definitely allow you to activate the cheats that you have. You are not able to activate the cheat codes in your game because your cheat console might be disabled. First you need to enable your console then only you can get your cheats activated. To enable the cheat console in Half-Life, you will have to open the game via the command prompt or with the help of a shortcut which you will create. To do the same you need to perform the following steps:
Right click on the Half-Life shortcut which is present in your desktop-> select properties-> in the target field you will see the location of the file similar to this which is specified below
"C:\Program Files\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe" After hl.exe specify –console in target field, so the target field now looks as shown below:
"C:\Program Files\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe" -console
After performing these steps your game will allow you to activate the cheats in it.

The issue that you have encountered can also be due to some other reason. The reason can be that the cheats is disabled in your console. To enable the cheats start Half-Life game with the console enabled. After that open the console by pressing the tilde key "~" and enter "sv_cheats 1" in the console to enable cheats. If you are activating the cheats for the first time then it won’t activate until you load the game or move to another level.

I am very grateful to you for giving me the suggestions that I needed. As you specified I performed all the steps and I got my console enabled. I also enabled the cheats in the console. But when I entered the cheat code god in the console it failed to recognize it. I tried this several times but nothing changed. Is this the wrong cheat code? If not, then why the cheat code is not getting activated. If you know how to overcome this issue then please help me out.

The cheat code that you have entered is not wrong. The console not recognizing the cheat code can be due to some other issue. Whenever the cheat code god is entered in the console it should display a message such as “god mode ON” or “god mode OFF”. If this message is not being displayed then the cheat code that you have entered is not being recognized by your console. There can be several reasons for this issue. I am not aware about issue so I won’t be able to give you any suggestions related to it.
