Call of Juarez: The Cartel Preview

Tired of inflated scenarios criminals? It's the same for us, especially if it comes a game within the game genre delinquent then fills a bit gap, or the lack of attention paid so far to the cooperative mode. Call of Juarez: The Cartel, which passes western scenario of the first two chapters to the contemporary, there will in fact always at the helm of three policemen constantly engaged in cross-fire against the criminals.

As mentioned, the focus of Call of Juarez: The Cartel is addressed to the cooperative multiplayer, but the concerted will be on top even if you decide to dedicate your time in single game, in which case two cops are obviously driven by the computer . Do not think that your role is a "welfare", as seems to be going out of fashion lately, as happens in Enslaved and Knights Contract, or as happens in NeverDead, just to name a few shining examples. Here we talk about an artificial intelligence and even interventionist tactics and you'll know when the two friends never stop to pull the trigger with the double purpose of targeting and cover your behind. The more that appear in the game of "ghosts" that indicate the best positions to cover: once someone reaches them, take the routine behavior that moves strategically and therefore all the others in the gang. Since no one in Paris played a test, we do not know if the mechanism is oiled properly, but to see it really makes a good impression.

As mentioned, even the look of the characters and the background has been studied in detail. Ben, who is a descendant of the cowboy of the first two chapters, looks like a true renegade, with its thousands of scars in the face and a waterproof executioner. The fascinating Kim is the spitting image of Halle Berry, complete with a sport that brings out the sexy body. Eddie finally has a sophisticated look to Scarface. Their past and talk of war in Vietnam that has formed a vengeful feelings for Ben, difficult childhood with a certain familiarity with the crime for Kim, gambling dens and Eddie (which, for Eddie, not only represent the past, but also the present).

Re: Call of Juarez: The Cartel Preview

Call of Juarez: The Cartel, there were shown two different situations. The first post-introduction of the game, we see involved in a shooting inside a nightclub. Just started the gunfight, the people who writhed in joy only a second before it was thrown to the ground while the three protagonists have given rise to a target cross. On the other hand, there were various henchmen that gave the impression of engaging in a continual dance of sponsoring, whose choreography has become even more obvious when we turned on the unfailing bullet time. The shooting continued outside, in a typical chase on foot, which became motorized once, discovered that you can steal cars in this game scenario. Everything pretty intense, with its beautiful details and well staged.

The second situation that we were shown by the developers provided a starting already on board a vehicle, specifically a pick-up. At this stage we have seen a player at the helm, while the other two were assigned to fly bullets. Again the development of history (and action) was more than convincing: The trio had the task of controlling strange "traffic" in the Mexican desert (with beautiful Kim in the role of sniper of the group) while the epilogue it was necessary to shoot like crazy after being spotted by the smugglers.

In a situation like the one just described, the driver has to undertake to make a door or to flank the enemy vehicles to facilitate the sieve by the two staff members to arms, which were obviously deputies to shoot everything that you were moving, including dismounted targets. All in a sarabande of vehicles that rollover and explode (with a helicopter in support!), And henchmen ambush behind rocks and cactus that target without pity our impromptu trio of protagonists.

Re: Call of Juarez: The Cartel Preview

    Conclusion:

Having been a simple eyes-on preliminary, we can not express an opinion in detail. We simply point out again that someone has finally focused on cooperative multiplayer (three) in an underworld setting, and to hazard all that we feel rather nice in the characterization of the characters and scenarios. We look forward to the time when we can put the hands of a playable version of one of the most promising titles of the house for Ubisoft this year.

    Pros

    • Finally a nice co-op in a criminal scenario
    • Starring controversial and compelling
    • Apparent attention to detail

    Cons:

    • "Estate" of the game yet to be verified
