PlatinumGames is one of those rare developers that can boast of never having rested on its laurels. Some will put it down to the youth of the Japanese studio, others recognize the talent and inventiveness of its component teams. After MadWorld, Bayonetta, Infinite Space and Vanquish, four games with a world and a unique gameplay, here comes the turn of Anarchy Reigns. A title that is different from other productions by the developer orientation multiplayer.
In the gaming industry, as elsewhere, there are certain injustices that it's hard to explain. While some studios are stacking sequences knowing insolent success, others striving to innovate are rarely rewarded. PlatinumGames is the case with high quality productions have not met the success they deserved, at least in the West. However, its members are not discouraged and continue to try to combine quality with profitability. A picture of Atsushi Inaba, a founder of the Japanese company, came to London to present his new project, Anarchy Reigns.
Simply Anarchy Reigns is a kind of fighting game unbridled comprising at least eight players simultaneously in the arenas. The presentation, which we witnessed, was intended to show us all the multiplayer game. And, for a good reason is that PlatinumGames is particularly proud to have succeeded in designing a strong multiplayer experience, something that remains impossible in the past under the concept of his other productions. In fact, the game will not reveal its full potential to many, even if it also has a story mode playable solo and everything unknown. The action takes place therefore in closed environments, but generally quite large. The player controls his character through a view in the third person and can travel at will the playing field, both horizontally and vertically as it is possible to climb buildings and jump once on top of these last. The level design also appears to be very careful. Regarding the nature of maps, which took place on the all the clashes of the presentation was called Beer Street and proposed ravaged urban settings.
According to Inaba, not only the levels will have a real identity but they also offer a different gaming experience, especially because of ATE (Action Trigger Event). This is event-specific map that trigger randomly and disrupt the progress of the fighting. Through a dynamic trailer, we could see a tsunami wash over the combatants, a kind of huge circular saw shred some unfortunate victims or planes dropping bombs on the playground that should make the outcome of fighting very uncertain. Anarchy Reigns also putting a lot on the personalities of the protagonists. Each course has specific skills but also a unique look. For the first time, PlatinumGames decided not to make recycling in the uniqueness of the characters had already appeared in their productions. Before the presentation, the Japanese studio had announced the presence of Jack, the hero a bit beefy MadWorld equipped with a chainsaw, the long-haired blonde Sasha, Zero and the ninja metal big Big Bull finally seems to have finally dropped its vocabulary the word finesse. On this merry band, the Japanese developer has added two newcomers he promptly submits. Like Jack, also come from MadWorld. This is the bloody army Mathilda his club with spikes and very friendly Baron who will laugh over his attacks with a folk. Who said Sexy Fists of Fire? The cast is so dense even if one is torn between the joy of seeing familiar faces and disappointment that PlatinumGames has not been more aggressive.
