Problems while playing Splinter cell Chaos theory

Hello there, I have a desktop computer which is installed with Windows 7 operating system. The computer has Nvidia Geforce 3 card installed on it. Recently I installed Splinter cell Chaos theory on my computer but I am not able to run the game. Whenever the game is started, it shows that the game is starting but the game terminates itself. Also sometimes it gives the error saying "Reference memory cannot be read". The computer is powered with Intel Quad core processor and has 1gb of RAM. Therefore if anybody else is facing similar Problems while playing Splinter cell Chaos theory then share some information about the same. Thanks in advance.

All the games which are supported by Windows XP are not supported by Windows 7 operating system. If the game is not supported by the operating system then the game will either not run at all or will give some problems while running. The list of all the games which are supported by the operating system is available on the official website. Check the list and see if the game which you are trying to play is supported by the operating system or not. If the game is not supported then there is nothing much you can do about it.

Usually the Reference memory unreadable error is displayed by the system when the system memory is not accessible or unreadable. All the files which are required to run a application are first loaded in the system RAM from where they are executed. If the system memory is not readable then the files will not be saved on it which will create problems while running the game. Therefore check if the RAM chips are working properly or not. Remove the RAM chips and then fix them properly in their respective slots. If there are multiple RAM chips then you can try booting the system with single RAM chip at a time. If for a particular RAM chip, the system does not boot then discard the RAM chip as it may be faulty.

Try running the game in compatibility mode. All the operating systems which are released after Windows XP have compatibility mode. In compatibility mode all the applications which run successfully in older versions of the operating system can be used in the new version of the operating system. To run the game in compatibility mode, right click on the game icon and then select properties. Go to compatibility tab. Check mark the option which says "Run the application in compatibility mode" and select Windows Xp. Save the settings and then run the game.

I think you will have to configure the graphic card according to the graphic requirements of the game. Nvidia graphic cards are preconfigured to run high end graphics editing applications. These settings sometimes create problems while running the game. To configure the graphic card, open the graphic properties and click Manage 3D settings. Now Select Anistropic filtering and enable force off. Select Triple buffering and enable force off. Select Vertical sync and enable force off. Save and apply the settings. Check if the game works.

The game which you are trying to play requires Graphic card with Shader model 1.1 support while the graphic card which you are using has shader model 1.0 support because of this the game is not working on your computer. You will have to upgrade the graphic card of the computer to a graphic card which has shader model 1.1 support. After upgrading the graphic card, you will not face any problems while running the game.
