FALLOUT 3 gives a BSOD error

All of a sudden for no known reason I am getting a BSOD error on trying to launch the FALLOUT3 game. I was able to play the game earlier. Since the last two three weeks the game used to lag but now all of sudden it randomly stated to crash and end up with a BSOD error. How can I fix this? I am using Windows XP operating system.

    Shut down background process

Since your are using Windows XP it can be that the game is not able to load as it might not be getting the resources required. This can be majorly due to some processes running in the background. To overcome the Black Screen of Death game crash I suggest you to shut down any process running in the background. Also turn off your anti-virus program which night also be restricting the certain game components.

re: FALLOUT 3 gives a BSOD error

This problem of Blue screen error while trying to play a game on Windows platform can be a reason of incompatibility of system requirements for the game. To correctly solve this error can you provide your system specifications and then the actual cause for this Blue screen error with Fallout- III can be worked out.

Troubleshooting BSOD in Fallout 3 on Windows

I had this error of BSOD too. And the re-installation of Fallout 3 game also did not worked for me. So here is whet I followed to troubleshoot the BSOD in Fallout 3 on Windows:
    1. Open the Start menu by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.
    2. Go to All Programs
    3. Locate the ffdshow folder.
    4. Click Audio decoder configuration.
    5. Look for Info & debug and click on it.
    6. Look for Don’t use ffdshow in: and mark in that box.
    7. Enter fallout3.exe below in the text area (separate exisiting entries if any by semi-colon)
    8. Click OK.
    9. Restart the game again.

re: FALLOUT 3 gives a BSOD error

I am using Windows XP service pack 2 operating system on AMD Athlon 64-bit processor. I am not aware of its clock speed. I am using 512 MB RAM and a Intel 945 motherboard. I have a hard disk of 120 GB. I am not sure about my graphic card size. Is this not meeting the required system configuration of FALLOUT3? Is anything needed to be changed?

    • Operating System- Windows XP
    • Memory: 1 GB
