Mouse Pointer Blinks/flickers while playing Halo 2

Hi,

I recently installed Halo 2 on my windows vista pc. As soon as I start the Halo 2 game, mouse pointer starts blinking. If I move my mouse will disappear, and when I leave it to blink rapidly and is distorted. I was unable to find anything helpful in the control panel, though I might have missed something. Is it a mouse problem or some issue with the game ???

First check the minimum requirements for playing Halo 2 on windows vista pc as follows :

Hard disk space : 7 GB of available hard disk space. The dedicated server and the map editor require more hard disk space.

Try the following steps to resolve your problem :

Step 1. Open the Start menu (in Windows does, VIC)
Step 2. Click Control Panel.
Step 3. Open Screen
Step 4. When opened, click the tab that says "Settings"
Step 5. Once opened, in the lower right corner should have a button that read "Advanced", click this.
Step 6. When that has opened, click the tab that says "Troubleshooting"
Step 7. In the center of the screen should be a slider, move this so it is at the Full end of the slider.

You need to Disable trace. If this happens, Open the mouse component in Control Panel. To do this in Windows Vista, click Start , Main.cpl type in the Search box, then press ENTER. To open the Mouse item in Control Panel in Microsoft Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type main.cpl, then click OK.
On the Motion tab or on the Pointer Options tab, click to clear the check box and trace the checkbox Show trace and Click OK.

If the game runs with video acceleration turned down, may indicate that you have to update the video driver or the display adapter can not run the game at full acceleration. To activate Direct3D acceleration in Windows XP, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag and click OK. On the Display tab, verify that all DirectX features are enabled. If a feature is disabled, click Enable next to the property.
