Far Cry 2 error 'release date check'

Hi All,

I recently installed the Far Cry 2 game that was bundled along with my new ZOTAC GTX 260.

The problem is when i launch the game, it runs a window which says 'detecting release date' and tries to connect to the internet.

As I dont have a net connection, the process stops and the game doesn't get launched.

Is there any way to bypass this 'release date check' test..?
I have not been able to play the game due to this irritating issue...

any help would be appreciated..

First check if the date and time of your computer is set correctly. The DRM failure in Far cry can also occur if the date and time of the computer are not set properly. You can also download the DRM patch which is necessary for bypassing the Date release check. It is available on the official far cry site.

I think that downloading the DRM patch will let you skip the Date release check. So I think that you should download that patch first. After downloading run that patch and then try to install the Game again. Hope doing this you will able to play the game.

I think I might need to remove SecuROM.... the app that tries to perform the date check...

Replying very late here....

Removin SecuROM didnt help. The game refused to start, threw up another error.

I downloaded the FC2 patch released by Ubisoft and that did it.

Can run the game now...
