Age of Empires II installation error 1603 on Windows 7 RTM

I am using a Windows 7 RTM version operating system. I have a Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The problem is with the installation of Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion computer games. I am unable to install this game. This game was installed on my friend's Windows Vista computer without any error, but when I try installing it on computer it displays an error code: 1603. Please help.

Probably the disc is not getting read properly. You need to clean the game disc. Make use of a disc-cleaning kit. Another way to clean the disc is use a lint-free-soft cloth of cotton to clean the silver portion gently. I would suggest you to get a disc cleaning solution to clean the disc. And then insert the disc again to install the game.

If possible my first suggestion to you would be to re-install the Windows 7 RTM if you have installed it recently. Get the back-up of all your required files and then re-install Window 7 RTM. Now try to install Age of Empires 2. If the problem still persists then try to use another computer to install the game. If it fails to install the game on another computer then that means the games CD is bad.

You can install the Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors in some other folder or drive. If your computer is having more that 1 hard disks then try installing it on the other hard disk. When installing in some other folder on hard disk do not select the Express install. You can also install the game by creating another user account. Use another CD or DVD drive to install the game as the current one might be faulty.
