Sims 2 not responding

I have a new windows vista laptop from msi i have required graphics configuration to play sims 2.Everytime when i want to create a family ,environment it freezes and new change get lost . I have even downloaded the patch for sims 2 from official website. some one tell me how to fix this?

check for compatibility of the game.right click the icon goto properties click on compatibility then in compatibility mode run program and check it and also check with privilege level check run this program as an admin if available.also confirm that your graphics card is compatible ..

how many object you have downloaded as you may have virus in downloaded objects so while creating family it hang or freezes so scan with good updated antivirus also download new objects from trusted source.

This can be due to any customize application you have installed due to such application conflict cause problem.so try to remove most recent downloads and then try to start sim 2 and check result.other wise Right click on the shortcut you normally use to run your game, and choose Properties. For Target, you will see something like "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSBin\Sims2.exe"

Type -w after it, so it looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSBin\Sims2.exe" -w

use this windowed mode
