Demon's Souls ( preview )
Having glimpsed a half completed at the last Tokyo Game Show, we look at the case of Demon's Souls, available in Japanese. Developed by From Software Team (King's Field, Ninja Blade, Armored Core), this role play takes a very Western but nevertheless disconcerting.
The introduction of Demon's Souls opens on a devastated landscape, devastated by the death and suffering from chaos. In the province of Boletaria, survival has become a quixotic notion, all the brave souls who have tried their luck who have completed their heroic journey in atrocious suffering. It is a single piece of land that is not controlled by a major demon capable of spraying any army in a flash. The death was violent but often it is necessary, because each of these men fell in battle continues to fight somewhere in the state of spectrum in an area called the Nexus.
Solo playable online but also for several parties (cooperative and PvP), Demon's Souls invites us to design our hero from head to foot with a fairly comprehensive publisher. Classic and instead provided the interface for creating characters is nevertheless disappointing in terms of design, the proposed profiles each with a little air engaging. Nevertheless, it remains possible to choose among a dozen different classes ranging from magician knight of the temple, through the Shinto priest, the aristocrat or the thief. This step is also crucial for the continuation of the adventure, each character has its own style of battle and equipment adapted to their starting condition. Thus, only a privileged few are able to use magic, their effectiveness in distance being offset however by their very low physical resistance.
This means that it is better to test different classes before embarking on the adventure really, because the journey that awaits the player is not easy. The starting level allows fortunately become familiar with the smooth interface of the game and its controls not always very intuitive. The gameplay is nevertheless pleasant, but vigilance is needed because the enemies will not hesitate to hide behind the elements of the scene for you to skip the throat without warning. The least that can be fatal ambush, one learns to move cautiously, shield the eye and waved watch to survive despite the limited evidence available at the outset. Despite its good intentions, however the player will end up in the arms of the first major demon, death was in fact only the beginning of a long and arduous crusade against evil.
Therefore, the state lacks spectrum envelope body that you make your entry into the Nexus. A place just as creepy as the land surface but still has a few individuals willing to assist you in your quest. An old blacksmith will offer particular services to help you repair your weapons, build or buy new ones. But this has a price and the souls you've had so much difficulty in bringing together in fighting will be your only bargaining chip in the Nexus. Once completed your preparations, you can bravely cross the gate that leads to the next level in the hope of getting your carnal envelope. But for that to succeed in defeating another major demon, which will leave ample time to die dozens of times during your exploration. Moreover, if you do not immediately go back to where you died, the souls of all previously obtained you lose permanently. And to make matters worse, your character sees his life gauge halved when changing the state ghostly. Needless to say we did not really have the heart to laugh in Demon's Souls, even if the online game allows you to cope more effectively with the benefit of assistance from other players. Note that these impressions relate only to the early hours of Game, the adventure still containing many elements that we have yet to discover! Hope that a location in the West will give us the chance to talk.
